Ross Art Design

Offering design and fabrication services for bespoke luxury furniture and architectural fixtures, Ross Art Design is a new division of the 22-year-old custom glass shop Ross Art Studio.

RAS has been fabricating glass for artists and architects since its founding in Boston in 1999. To name a few: Maya Lin, Annabel Selldorf, Eric Fischl, Kiki Smith, Robert Gober, Yoko Ono, Peter Marino, Anthony Goicolea, Andra Ursuta, Magda Compos-Pons, Manolo Valdés, Josh Sperling.

After several years operating as a glass casting boutique for artists, RAS began to get commissions from architects, which brought about many new relationships with designers, metal shops, millworkers, and lighting specialists.

(Two public art projects we completed recently—The LGBTQ Memorial in NYC and the Boston Marathon Bombing Memorial—are large-scale works of metal and illuminated cast glass that enrich the communities and environments where they’re installed, respectively: Hudson River Park in the West Village; and the two locations on Boylston Street where the bombs were detonated on April 15, 2013.)

RAD’s initial six product offerings include both original and collaborative designs. The fabrication methods for each have been developed among several shops and specialists over a ten year period. Each piece is extensively customizable. Each, installed, is a one-of-a-kind, highly operational work of art.
